The Norwegian supplier AquaOptima exports an eel farming system to Portugal.

AquaOptima, which is based in Trondheim, is a supplier of RAS (recirculation aquaculture systems). The company has designed and delivered hatcheries and grow-out land-based farms all over the world.

The farm, which is scheduled to be completed in September 2015, is located about 150 km north of Lisbon and have a capacity of 500 tons. The buyer of the system is Portugal-based Find Fresh, which consists of a consortium of companies with 20 years of experience in eel distribution.

Export Credit Norway has contributed with financing through a EUR 7.8 million loan. The loan is guaranteed by GIEK (90%) and Nordea (10%).
