New CEO for Export Credit Norway

Otto Søberg has been appointed as Export Credit Norway’s new CEO. Søberg is presently CEO of Wood Group Mustang Norway AS.

“I am very familiar with the extensive support Export Credit Norway provides to the shipping and offshore industries, as well as mainland businesses all over the country. I look forward to building on the robust foundation laid by the company over the past four years,” says Otto Søberg.

Søberg has more than 30 years of executive experience from export-focused industries. In addition to his role as head of Wood Group Mustang Norge (formerly part of the Agility Group), he has led a division of the Siemens Group with global responsibility for oil, gas and maritime solutions. Other previous positions include group CEO at Aker Yards and CEO of Kværner Oil and Gas AS. He also has extensive board experience from a range of export-focused enterprises and industry organisations. Søberg holds a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from Copenhagen Business School.

“Otto Søberg’s skill set matches Export Credit Norway’s needs. We are therefore very pleased that he has agreed to lead and continue to develop Export Credit Norway in its role as a key supporter of Norwegian businesses in the years ahead,” says Export Credit Norway Board Chair Else Bugge Fougner.

Olav E. Rygg has served as acting CEO of Export Credit Norway since 1 July, and will remain in the post until Søberg joins the company. Rygg will then return to his permanent role as EVP Director of Lending – Shipping and Offshore at Export Credit Norway.

Søberg will take up his new position no later than 1 December 2016.
